Cleartrip is now one of the most highly trafficked sites in the country, so we thought we’d share our browser statistics with the world. We hope they will be useful to the online community.
| Browser | Percentage of visits |
| Internet Explorer 6 | 76.4% |
| Internet Explorer 7 | 10.7% |
| Firefox | 9.5% |
| Internet Explorer 5 | 1.4% |
| Opera | 0.7% |
| Internet Explorer 5.5 | 0.5% |
| Mozilla 6 | 0.3% |
| Safari | 0.3% |
It’s too bad there’s still so many people using, Internet Explorer, one of the worst things to ever happen to the web.
There’s a great, FREE, alternative browser around. It’s called Firefox. Get it today. It kicks the hell out of IE — more secure, less buggy and just better designed all-round.
Caveat: Don’t download Firefox 2.0 — stick with Firefox 1.5 — it’s better.
@Hrush: How about sharing monitor resolution stats as well? People still don’t know whether to design for 800×600 or 1024×768 or variable width.
Firfox "more secure, less buggy and just better designed all-round"??? Can you share the stats on your claims?
Check out IE7 before recommending Firefox!
Get your facts right — here’s a Information Week report citing Symantec and confirming that IE has more bugs than Firefox:
http://www.informationweek.com/internet/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=181501752&subSection=Browsers
Gerard Talbot maintains a list of browser bugs here:
http://www.gtalbot.org/BrowserBugsSection/
Even the venerable Washington Post’s research leads it to recommend Firefox for security reasons:

Finally, being better designed is subjective, but consider the following:
* 76% of our users are still browsing with IE 6 and have never experienced the goodness of tabs
* It took Microsoft over 5 years to upgrade the browser from IE 6 to IE 7, no features were added to IE 6 during these five years, updates to the browser were largely security fixes
u r not a technology website but a travel serach site, so i wonder if there is any meaning of making such a comment, though same is true
Hey thanks a lot for the info. This is some info I have been looking for sm time.
Firefox is great. have used IE & now hooked to FF.
I not a geek, just a normal guy & I find Firefox is free, less buggy & overall easy to use.
