We’ve seen a ten-times increase in our hotel search traffic since May, so we thought we’d share some information about what people are searching for. According to our search logs, the most searched for hotel destinations are:
- Mumbai hotels — 10.3%
- Goa hotels — 8.5%
- Delhi hotels — 6.6%
- Bangalore hotels — 6.4%
- Hyderabad hotels — 5.8%
- Chennai hotels — 5.2%
- Agra hotels — 4.1%
- Pune hotels — 3.2%
- Manali hotels — 3.2%
- Shimla hotels — 3.2%
The hotel search data above is based on all Cleartrip hotel searches between May & June 2006.
Interesting to see that of thousands of hotel destinations available through the search, 56% of searches are for the top ten destinations–the 80/20 rule in play.
Quick hotel search tip: We’ve made it dead easy to get complete hotel listings for any city in India just by typing a URL into your browser e.g. http://www.cleartrip.com/hotels/india/mumbai Just replace the city name at the end of the URL with whichever Indian city you want a list of hotels for.
I would like to book Hotel Bhimaa’s but would like to know on the service, cleanliness that they have. I would like to know whether the staffs are friendly and etc etc.
pls send me some note @ vilves.kesavamurthy@gmai.com
These numbers may not mean anything unless you start figuring out how many people who booked the flight also booked a hotel during between the return flights and vice versa.
- For each single person going to another city (by flight) for more than a day, you have a golden chance to cross-sell a hotel reservation. The success rate may be very high.
- For each person/family going to another city by flight, you have an excellent chance to cross-sell airport pickup and drop (at least in the destination city) by cab.
- For each hotel that is booked in another city, you have a great chance to sell air tickets.
- For each evening return flight (same day return) you may have a good chance to sell cab booking in the destination city.
Strike when the iron is hot — by having non-integrated sections, can you imagine how much business you are loosing?
I think Pune has realized this .Apparently many new hotels have started in Pune this year .They have also made sure that they have established their presence on the world wide web. These hotels came into existence mainly because of the increasing demand for travel accommodation for people traveling either on business or pleasure.
