Last week, we released a major upgrade to Cleartrip’s hotel search. As with many of the changes we make, Cleartrip’s users pointed us in this direction. We recently asked users what was most important to them while selecting a hotel and 85% of the respondents said that location was important to them. The only thing more important than location was price, but we already knew that.
So, we’ve added the ability to see hotel search results on a map. To get to the mapped results, just click the new ‘Map’ link on our hotel search results:

As soon as you click the ‘Map’ link, your search results will switch to the map view with the map focused on the city centre for your search. If you’d like to search for a specific landmark, area or point of interest, you can search the map–the screenshot below shows that the map has been searched for ‘Buckingham Palace.’ As soon as you search the map for a specific location, the map will be refocused to your search and your chosen location will be marked with a red pin. You can also choose to sort hotels by their distance from your preferred location.

You can hover your mouse over any of the markers to see hotel names, star ratings and prices. Clicking a hotel name or one of the markers on the map immediately displays the most important hotel details on the map itself–a photo, star rating, amenities and TripAdvisor traveller rating with links available to book the hotel or to get more hotel details.
