Introducing hotel reviews from TripAdvisor

Cleartrip’s hotel search now features traveller reviews for hotels supplied by TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel community and features over 15 million unbiased reviews generated by travellers from all over the world.

At Cleartrip, we’re doing everything we can to deliver comprehensive hotel information to help customers choose the right hotel–most recently, we redesigned our hotel information display and added hotel maps.

It always helps to have more information before you book a hotel and TripAdvisor’s reviews are completely unbiased and are written by travellers just like you. These reviews are contributed by people who have experienced a stay at a particular hotel, making them a credible and genuine source of information.

Each review carries a hotel rating, where the hotel is rated on a scale of 1 to 5–the higher the rating, the better. Most hotels carry multiple reviews, so an aggregate hotel rating is calculated based on each traveller’s individual rating.

The hotel’s aggregate rating is now displayed on Cleartrip’s search results. In addition to the rating, we also specify how many different reviews have been written for a hotel.

Clicking the hotel rating reveals detailed reviews, ratings and recommendations for a hotel. We display the three most recent reviews for the hotel with links to write your own review or read all the reviews for the hotel. In addition to the reviews, we display the hotel’s popularity rating; detailed ratings for rooms, service, value, cleanliness and dining; finally we also display user recommendations for the hotel–these recommendations provide an indication of what kind of trip the hotel is best suited to, for instance, honeymoon, family or business trip.

We’re thrilled to have partnered with TripAdvisor to deliver the wisdom and experience of the world’s largest travel community to Cleartrip’s users. We believe the partnership adds a lot to our hotel search and helps make the right decision before booking a hotel. We’ve said it before–finding the perfect hotel shouldn’t be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The TripAdvisor green colour and the circles used to depict the hotel rating are the reason that we didn’t use the colour or shape when we redesigned our hotel icons.
