More hotels in your search results Hrush
We recently updated Cleartrip’s hotel search and booking services to significantly expand the number of hotels that we can offer our customers. We’re quite excited to say that Cleartrip now has one of the most comprehensive hotel selections available in the world. We wanted to share some of the underlying data to give people an idea of the number of hotels now available through Cleartrip.
- Total number of hotels available: 146,000
- Total number of destinations available: 19,387
- Total number of countries available: 180
Distribution of hotels by star rating:

Top 5 countries, ranked by number of hotels in the country:

Top 10 destination, ranked by number of hotels in the city:

It’s interesting that India scores 4th in the country ranking, but doesn’t make an appearance on the destination ranking, while China is the only country to bag two spots in the destination ranking.
We’re thrilled to have vastly improved the selection of hotels available in our search results. We believe in consumer choice and we’re happy to have increased the choices our customers have while booking hotels with us. We have some design tweaks to the hotel search results launching very soon, stay tuned to this blog for an update on that.

So are you guys working on a comprehensive trip planner yet or not?
Desired Workflow (if I may):
1. Start with where you are (City 0) and which region you would like to travel to (continent, country, or city if you already know it)
2. From City 0 to City 1 – choose mode of travel and finalise flight / train selection (or even car hire!)
3. City 1 – stay and see – choose hotels and tour packages
4. Onward to City 2 – goto #2 and repeat until done.
5. Final itinerary displayed and move into payment
It would be even cooler if at each stage, you could interweave travel advice, reviews and recommendations along with results to help people research and choose. Also obviously since this is an extensive process, we need the ability to save a half-done itinerary.
Then, you could also do cool things like "Bugdet – Rs. 1 lakh for 2 people in Mumbai" > choose between 5 nights at Bangkok or 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur or 3 nights in Singapore or 2 nights in Mauritius. etc.
Whatsay?
Dhruv–thanks for the suggestion, we’ll see what we can do here.
one essential component which i find missing while searching for hotel in delhi/mumbai ( a big city ) is a sort list based on location in the city.
please do think about it.
The US has more than 48,000 hotels and their top city has less than 550 hotels. That’s like 200+ US cities?
Alok–thanks for the suggestion, we’ll see what we can do here.
There are a couple of features we currently have that may help you.
1. You can use the map view and then search for any location on the map to see hotels near that location.
2. You can use the "Area" filter on the left of the search results to show hotels only in specific areas.
More details on our map view are here:

Care to count?
Do you guys do bookings outside of India? I have used your site for India only bookings
Diwant–we offer bookings for over 19,000 destinations across the world. We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that we have a very comprehensive selection of hotels available, no matter what your destination.
I was recently searching for hotels in Mauritius and I realised that you cant simply search for ‘Mauritius’ – the drop down selector forces you to select an area within the country. Now this might help you provide a more relevant selection, but it’s completely useless to me as a first time traveller who knows nothing about the place.
Seeing your link for the USA hotels above, I tried the same URL format for Mauritius and it worked fine!
My specific suggestions are:
1. Prominent links to view list of hotels across the country (not found anywhere on UI / Nav)
2. Possible integration with travel advice (maybe from TripAdvisor) on drilling down on city / area / region
