Today, we’re unveiling a brand new Cleartrip Account — your one-stop destination for booked trips, e-tickets, invoices, travel preferences and more. It’s been a while since we made any major changes to Cleartrip Account and as we’ve continued to add new features and products, we found that Cleartrip Account was getting long in the tooth and was hindering our ability to deliver innovation faster to our customers. We’ve redesigned Cleartrip Account from the ground up to improve all of the existing features you already know and love and add some amazing new ones. This post is going to provide a very quick overview of what’s new and beautiful.
Completely redesigned and revamped user experience
The new Cleartrip Account bears almost no resemblance to its predecessor and sports a dramatically improved visual design and information architecture–it makes managing your travel far easier and, more importantly, it has laid the foundation for a raft of amazing super-secret features which we’re already hard at work on. With this redesign we’ve focused on making the experience of using your Cleartrip Account cleaner, leaner and really snappy.
This is what Cleartrip Account used to be:
We’ll have a much more detailed post on the thinking behind the new design and the technology used behind the scenes to make it happen next week. All we’ll say right now is that it’s gorgeous — sign in to your account today and see for yourself.
The first thing you see when you login to your Cleartrip Account now is the all-new Dashboard. The dashboard is like a heads-up-display for your upcoming and recently completed trips. Upcoming trips show up right on your dashboard to give you an overview with handy buttons to let you print your e-tickets right away. If you don’t have any upcoming trips, the dashboard will display your most recently completed trips. Also new to the dashboard is MagicMeter, a little progress bar which shows whether you’re getting the most from your Cleartrip Account along with hints for what you can do to boost your MagicMeter score. Boosting your MagicMeter score is easy — just follow the hints below the MagicMeter to boost your score.
The trips page shows all the trips you’ve ever booked on Cleartrip — upcoming, completed and cancelled. We’ve also added the ability to filter the trip list based on the traveller(s). Many of our customers book travel not just for themselves, but also for their friends and family members. The traveller filter lets you quickly cut through the list of trips to show only those trips for which a given person is travelling — you can then share the itinerary or ticket with them, settle up costs or review complete details for their trip. As before, you can view all your booked trips as a list or on a calendar.
Trip details screens have been simplified and made more consistent in how information is displayed for different types of bookings — flights, hotels, trains. Trip details always display all the information you need. Flight bookings, for instance, shows your complete itinerary along with all traveler names, PNR numbers and price breakup. You can also print your e-ticket, share the itinerary via email or SMS or checkin online with the Trip Tools sidebar. Whether, it’s a flight booking, hotel booking or train booking, the Trip Tools sidebar is always handy. Another cool trick we worked on is showing up quick suggestions for enriching your travel profile so we can personalise and enhance your booking experience. For instance, if we notice that you fly Jet Airways more often then any other airlines, we prompt you to add your Jet Airways’ Frequent Flyer number to your profile — once you add it, we will automatically include your frequent flyer membership details for any future bookings with Jet Airways.
As we mentioned above, most of our customers book travel for themselves and others. To spare your from tedious typing and carpal tunnel syndrome, we now let you store detailed traveller profiles in your Cleartrip Account. You can create as many traveller profiles as you want and populate them with details like email address, phone number, passport info and seat and meal preferences. Once you fill traveller details out, you can make bookings for these travellers without the tedium of repetitive typing. Filling out contact details for people you book travel for also means you can easily share booking details with them via email and SMS.
Profile and Settings
We’ve also made it much easier to manage your own Cleartrip profile and add useful profile details such as your frequent flyer numbers, seat and meal preferences, passport details and more. When you populate your Cleartrip profile, your travel bookings get streamlined as we don’t have to repeatedly ask you for the same information every time you book.
And, drumroll, please… with the new Cleartrip Account we’re introducing a much awaited, much clamoured for feature — the ability to change the email ID associated with your Cleartrip username. No longer will you have to create a new account and forgo all your past data just to use your new email address.
Over a year ago, we launched a feature called Express Checkout on our mobile site, which allowed customers to save their credit card details on their smartphones and make one-click flight bookings. The number of people that started using Express Checkout surprised even the most die-hard optimists in our team. The conundrum we had was that Express Checkout was available only on Cleartrip Mobile.
Today, that’s no longer the case. We are replacing Express Checkout with Expressway. Expressway works across devices and enables you to make blazingly fast bookings with just one click. Turn Expressway on, save your card details, name and address to book your trips with just one click payment from any PC or mobile device. Expressway employs industry-strength 128-bit encryption to guarantee you a safe and secure way to make blazingly fast bookings without the hassles of filing out tedious online forms over and over again.
Social integration with Facebook Connect
And last but not least, we’re letting you connect your Cleartrip Account with your Facebook account. We’ve always believed that travel is an inherently social activity — people travel to push their personal boundaries outwards through exploration. With Facebook Connect, you can now directly import your profile picture from Facebook into your Cleartrip Account along with your profile info. Once you connect your Cleartrip Account and your Facebook account, you can automatically reach out to your network to share your travel plans. Your friends can then share their travel tips or let you know that by some serendipitous coincidence, they will also be in the same place at the same time as you.
We’ve had a blast building out the new Cleartrip Account and we’re thrilled to finally give it to you — we hope you love it as much as we do. Stay tuned, we’ll soon be sharing much more about the new Cleartrip Account and all it’s shiny new awesomeness.
