India's industrial giants and web copywriting at its best

According to the folks over at 37Signals, Copywriting is interface design. I couldn't agree more.

That's why I can't quite figure out why one of India's largest conglomerates can't fork over a few bucks for a decent writer. Even if a blind act of generosity permits me to forgive their appalling sense of visual design, really, what's with the writing?

So, please Godrej, fire your existing writers and get someone a lot better--someone who can spell "continuously" and doesn't write sentences like this:

the young lawyer-turned-lockmaker and took up lockmaking.

This is the kind of step-motherly treatment that keeps the Internet from its true potential in India.

You're right about the appalling quality of writing in English in India.. at the most unexpected places -- just read the English Newspapers - Times of India, Asian Age -- full of howlers.. today's Asian Age talks about Sahara arranging mass marriages for poor people and taking care of "fooding" !!!

Read Champak kids magazine and you will get sterling examples of this type of English - I wrote to the Editor, offering to proof read their magazine FOR FREE, and I was turned down..!! If they dont want the service for free, then you can understand that they wont pay for it either..
