Expanding the hotel search results map

With the addition of a 'map view' to Cleartrip's hotel search results, we also added a little widget above the top left corner of the map that lets you resize the map--making it larger or smaller to suit your preference.

Clicking the 'enlarge' widget hides the filters on the left and enlarges the map. Once the map is enlarged, clicking the 'minimise' widget reduces the map size and brings the filters back into view.

Putting our hotel search results on the map is just the latest in a long line of steady improvements we've made to Cleartrip's hotel search, we've got one more nifty trick releasing soon that makes finding a hotel even easier than it already is, stay tuned...

I was trying to book a hotel in chennai and was going through the map view. Found that many of the hotels i checked is shown at wrong locations on the map. How did that happen?

This is a great feature and have been noticing more an more websites using it for the sake of convenience.
However what is the real benefit of these maps as i guess there is limited detailed information through these maps ?
