Introducing hotel reviews from TripAdvisor

Cleartrip's hotel search now features traveller reviews for hotels supplied by TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor is the world's largest travel community and features over 15 million unbiased reviews generated by travellers from all over the world.

At Cleartrip, we're doing everything we can to deliver comprehensive hotel information to help customers choose the right hotel--most recently, we redesigned our hotel information display and added hotel maps.

It always helps to have more information before you book a hotel and TripAdvisor's reviews are completely unbiased and are written by travellers just like you. These reviews are contributed by people who have experienced a stay at a particular hotel, making them a credible and genuine source of information.

Each review carries a hotel rating, where the hotel is rated on a scale of 1 to 5--the higher the rating, the better. Most hotels carry multiple reviews, so an aggregate hotel rating is calculated based on each traveller's individual rating.

The hotel's aggregate rating is now displayed on Cleartrip's search results. In addition to the rating, we also specify how many different reviews have been written for a hotel.

Clicking the hotel rating reveals detailed reviews, ratings and recommendations for a hotel. We display the three most recent reviews for the hotel with links to write your own review or read all the reviews for the hotel. In addition to the reviews, we display the hotel's popularity rating; detailed ratings for rooms, service, value, cleanliness and dining; finally we also display user recommendations for the hotel--these recommendations provide an indication of what kind of trip the hotel is best suited to, for instance, honeymoon, family or business trip.

We're thrilled to have partnered with TripAdvisor to deliver the wisdom and experience of the world's largest travel community to Cleartrip's users. We believe the partnership adds a lot to our hotel search and helps make the right decision before booking a hotel. We've said it before--finding the perfect hotel shouldn't be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The TripAdvisor green colour and the circles used to depict the hotel rating are the reason that we didn't use the colour or shape when we redesigned our hotel icons.

"TripAdvisor's reviews are completely unbiased and are written by travellers just like you."

And what makes you think I'll identify with a HornyViking? Or probably I will ;-)

Trip advisor is what i used to zero in on the hotel i went for my honey moon trip to maldives. Unfortunately cleartrip couldnt help me that time. I had shortlisted 3 hotels based on price and then started reading the reviews which turned out to be really useful in the deciding factor. I in turn returned the favour by posting my review after i came back. I think this feature will be a very useful feature for your customers.

Umesh--hopefully, we'll be able to help you from now on when you're looking for hotel reviews. You can add reviews for any other hotels you may have stayed at:

@hrush I just got a mail from TripAdvisor saying they are going to launch TripAdvisor India very shortly and they wanted me to take a survey. Should be good news for you guys.

Btw one reason for you guys were not able to help me in finding the hotel was coz you were not showing all the available hotels in the search resutls. I finally contacted the hotels directly and processed the bookings. I checked even y'day for maldives hotels, it showed only one and i'm pretty sure that there n number of hotels that are available on the dates i searched for. anyways... :-)

Umesh--We've been very focused on domestic hotels and can confidently say that we have the most comprehensive results for instantly bookable hotels now. With that out of the way, we'll be focusing on comprehensiveness for international hotels.

Well, being an indian most of the user reviews on tripadvisor come from non indians and thus may not be valid for our taste. also, i think you guys do a good job as far as flights are concerned but when comapring your hotel rates, you are way higher than some of your competition. i have booked my hotels many times with other websites. so first you need to make sure your hotel rates are comparable.

Deborah--we thought about this, but after an extensive sampling of reviews, we found them highly relevant. Most people that stay at a hotel have similar expectations across the world--clean rooms, good service etc.

If you could provide some more data around what you were searching for, we can do some checks internally with regards to price. We're fairly confident that our range of hotels and prices is extremely competitive at this time.

it is best effort to find correct place on correct price ,i also realise this is of great use for travelers , but one thing more in many places like jaisalmer many hotels guest houses are giving very much good services like in kashmier shikaras were giving, these type of good small hotels in side the for are not covered with web sites, and big guide books have started discarding their names fromtheir books why reasons well known to every one i.e. compition between big and small hoteliers

Though Internet is full of good or bad reviews of hotels and the sites where they appear claims they are unbiased and posted by real travelers. But, the fact is that they may not be real and posted by hoteliers to boost business. Even if they are real, many times, it is possible that they may not be providing actual picture. I have recently stumbled upon this website http://www.hotelly.com/Search/HomePage.aspx?aid=6 which actually features video reviews of hotels across the world. These, I believe, are more trustworthy because When you view video reviews, you watch that is real and you trust. Travelers would shoot what they see; even hoteliers would avoid uploading unreal videos.

That's great, I never thought about Introducing hotel reviews from TripAdvisor like that before.
Tripadvisor it's property of Expedia!

Tripadvisor does NOT control the reviews

Tripadvisor allows anonimous reviews which most of the time if negative, are defamatory, if positive are fake, written by the owner themseves.

Tripadvisor CANNOT distinguish fake reviews from real ones.

....so whay you consider this information source reliable and trustable?

...and please read this independent sources:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/7129475/Can-we-trust-hotel-reviews-on-TripAdvisor.html

...so think before choosing the information source, and above all distinguish a RELIABLE web-site from Tripadvisor which is NOT ENSURING any checcks and controls on what they publish!

For Expedia-Tripadvisor: the travellers want trastable information, not ads!
